Well, I can't speak for a particular situation in your
   experience, just generalize.

   In the case of cancer, you love life. Cancer is VERY SUCCESSFUL
   at duplication and life... for itself. It doesn't know when to
   turn itself off.

   Music? Well, you love music. This music you hate is
   disappointing because it should've have been so bad. It could've
   been better but they ruined it, so you hate it. It's all
   built-in.
