that's me 100% - when I know I'm right, I know I'm right... and if someone doesn't understand me, I'll repeat myself 17 different ways until they understand me. If I'm wrong... well, they'd better work pretty hard at proving it. If they succeed, well, they've just gained my awe and amazement. I'm always willing to be proven wrong, but they're gonna work for it In the 6th grade, I declared to my mother, "Mom, I've learned everything I need about math now for the rest of my life." She laughed and replied, "How do you KNOW you won't need it if you don't KNOW it yet?" Typical parental response. I didn't know how to answer her. Well, after I made my proclamation, years went on. I made it through Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. Except for Calculus, I did really well in all of them. But you know what? All these years later? 6th Grade Kenneth Udut was right. Run businesses, learned how to play the stock market at one point (it's a game, just with real money, but still a game), done all the "adult stuff" with money, mortgage, bank accounts, credit cards, built things out of wood that are sturdy and don't fall apart, done lots of programming and used a lot of math on the computer. And... ...NONE of the stuff I learned in math from 7th - 12th grade was useful AT ALL to me. Maybe I refused to use the other math just to prove a point. Maybe I never really needed it. But either way, I did it. I learned it to get the grades then forgot it as fast as I could
