I see mathematics as ultimately being analogies that happen to
   work very very well.* Mathematics makes a very good shim between
   the way we think (our cognitive processes) and our experience of
   reality and works well enough to bring some of our ideas to
   fruition.* So, I'm not faulting it. I think it marvelous and
   makes it less tedious than it would be if we had to describe the
   same things using words and long sentences.
