Honestly, I don't see this as being too much of a problem.* True
   AI is unlikely to be possible for another 200-300 years anyway,
   at best. Step over to biology.* They've got a long way to go to
   decipher neuronal behavior, brain structure and such. Physics
   makes everything easy and mathematical.* They claim the rest is
   "just molecules, just crystals, just life, just ...." as if it's
   lego blocks.* Plus it's rather an elitist slap in the face to
   the rest of the sciences, as if making everything statistical
   will solve everything. It doesn't. Not everything has clean cut
   units that are identical. It's more than lego blocks.* It's more
   than math.* There's an arrogance in theoretical physics
   especially that makes much of the rest of he sciences sometimes
   find them rather laughable. The public love it because it's
   science fiction told by scientists that we love that we see on
   TV and that write books and give talks. But - it's fiction.* All
   fiction.* Real science is more than math and a whole lot harder
   and messier.
