That's so true. By observing, we then are participating. If a
   crime is committed and you see it happening, you become
   partially responsible, even if you didn't say a word or lift a
   finger. Seeing and/or hearing is not a passive thing - it binds
   you to the thing going on. Reminds me of Medusa - just looking
   at her turns you to stone, or Lot's wife turned to a pillar of
   salt when she looked back towards Sodom and Gomorrah. Best
   advice: Turn away and go "La la la la" with your hands over your
   ears. That's the safest way :-) "
