Well. Looks like it's almost the end of 2025. I suppose I could take the time to reflect what I did for my hobbies this year. ...not that I did an awful lot. Amusement park during the summer, and college after that, y'know. Anyways, here goes: WEPON.PK3: Yep, finally made a gameplay mod for Doom! While I'm pretty happy with most of the weapons, I think I could probably implement a few other things, mostly: * More balancing changes, 'cause why not * Tweaks to the superweapons * An alternative powerup to the Berserk (or something that spawns alongside it), perhaps a map-only augment/upgrade to the existing weaponry. * I really should get to work on hepon.pk3... Aside that, hasn't really gotten a lot of traction... that, or maybe it's just not YouTube photogenic? I dunno. CAULIFLOWER: Technically, I haven't actually finished this yet at the time of writing, but I got an almost fleshed-out beta over to the Doomworld forums... so that's something? I guess? I will say though, the Cacowards competition's fuckin' stiff. Being sandwiched between multiple Cacoward winners in the same forum post almost feels like a cruel joke... but dammit, I really shouldn't be so envious. And now, the other words I'm going to say about some other stuff and things. Has anyone else been wildly fluctuating between the biggest case of impostor syndrone ever known to man and "I'm genuinely suprised some of these people even know how to operate a keyboard in the first place"? I swear, some of the stuff I see on Twitter has me pondering just what could even drive a human to write the most vitriolic creed about some website policy some random company made about 10 years ago, something like that. And I have a feeling it's only gonna get crazier from there. And I know there's always Bluesky... but let's be honest. Does bsky.app HAVE any identity whatsoever from "It's not a website owned by Elon?". That, and the main reason I stick to the following tab over there... the amount of politically motivated violence condoned by people who obviously just want a gaggle of yes-men to validate them I think makes up most the site's contents. And that whole "escaping AI" thing? Yeah Bluesky don't do that either, I don't know why people insist on it. I'm technically on somewhat solid ground over there at the moment, but really it's more like a Jenga tower in its midstage(s). There's no telling if/when it's gonna tumble over. Twitter VERY much has it's problems, but at least I know that disagreement with site administration won't get me shitcanned. I can't say the same for Bluesky. I know Twitter's obnoxious with it's push for X-AI, but I'd rather deal with that then run the risk of having a gun pointed to my head if I ever get into spats with anyone. That, and doesn't most of the EU parliment actively post over at Bluesky too? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if some nasty censorship policies are on the way. Call me a gooner if you must, but I don't like censorship. As much as I would've liked to migrate to Matsodon... let's be honest. A website mainly focusing on being Free/Libre and Open Source is inevitably gonna get invaded by FOSS-obsessed psychotics who are more than willing to burn down your house, murder your family, and do even worse things to your pets if you're not EXACTLY on their wavelength. It's not even enough to use Linux like I currently do, NO, according to those lunatics, if your software isn't 100% comprised of libre software (even the stuff used to make GPUs properly work, the motherboard software, and most of the stuff needed to make CPUs work), you might as well be a Windows 11 demon sent straight from Microsoft Hell itself. I sometimes have to wonder if any of them actually develop software, as opposed to arguing with each other if some random word in some document barely anybody's gonna read properly uses libre terminology. Maybe there's the 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' thing... but I dunno. Sure, there's plenty of techno-tankie control freaks among that crowd, but I can't say for certain if the libre-space belongs exlusively to that crowd. I did try out Cohost for a little bit... but that place was much more geared towards artists since day one. That, and the website shut down anyways because it also fancied itself an alternative payment processor... and the admin threw a hissy fit when that plan didn't quite work out. I did also try out Truth Social for a little bit, but it runs into much of the same problems Bluesky does, except instead of "Elon and Trump Bad", it's "All Hail Elon and Trump", and deleted my accoutn there 'cause the site was just plain BORING. Same dipshittery, different sides of the coin. That, and the website does NOT make things friendly for desktop users. Guess it's Twitter I'll stay for the time being then, or at least until a proper alternative social networked NOT staffed by obsessive control freaks, with plenty of techies, and more importantly sane people, comes along. On a completely unrelated tangent, Christ on the fucking town bicycle are my dorm neighbors loud and obnoxious. Would it hurt one to not screech and holler like a fucking gorilla to whatever TikTok garbage you're choosing to show your roommate for the 150th time? And your singing, if you can even call it that, is HORRIBLY off-key. I have a sinking feeling I'm gonna have to be dealing with that cramming for the physics final I've got next Thurday. Groan-sigh.
