i've noticed that my phlog is showing up
on the gemini recent users with the correct
date, just not in the correct place. at present
it lists my most recent activity amongst June 2025 
entries, as: 

"jrconduit Mar-27 16:23 jr conduit's lost & found"

i still don't see any recent activity for me 
on the sdf.org phlog page. my last activity there
is shown as being 3 May 2025. 

i learned to sand and buff (polish) copper today 
during our last metal jewelry class. i'm happy
with the ring i made, even though i think i 
soldered it inside out in terms of the way i drew
out the original design. it turns out that this 
way (ha), upside down is better. it makes a rather
elegant futuristic thumb ring, i think. there's a 
triangular downwards point, with a low wide 
triangle cutout off-center, and some other angles. 

i started to learn vi today with the 'vilearn' 
command. i also edited my '.profile' for the first
time, changing some variables and adding notes to 
myself below the sdf.org welcome/info lines at 
log-in. i also used lynx to surf gopher for the
first time (i usually use lagrange or the gopher 
app). i really like it! 

when i'm 'in' the server, i get a feeling like i
used to get when i was very young, and i would
make a nest for myself in the closet of the room
my younger sister and i shared. i had a lamp in 
there and pillows and blankets, and i would read
and feel enclosed and secure and secret and broad.

we started seeds last saturday, so it's been 
almost a week, and many of them have shot up tall
enough that we already had to take off the plastic
germination lid. this year i put them in an old
lizard terrarium i got at a thrift store, that has 
a built-in electrical heating pad at bottom. 

a selection of the plants we planted:

lemon queen sunflowers
red velvet sunflowers
a sunflower mix

heavenly blue morning glories
moonflowers
borage
sweet peas
calendula!

okra
fava bean
mung bean
ruby red chard
lemon basil
yellow pear tomato
purple (something) tomato

and many more. i'm excited for the
garden this year!
