29 April 2026 Wednesday it was very gray and rainy today. after work, i saw a robin (not the huge one i've seen a lot on the ground, maybe a female? do the females have red breasts too? i will look in my books) with bits of straw in their beak, land on the evergreen bush and slip away inside. then, not long after, i saw a light-colored bird, about the same size or maybe slightly larger than the robin, swoop first towards the evergreen bush, then off in the other direction, then back to the bush--carying what looked like a fragment of a plastic bag in their beak. i wish i could have gotten a better look. i haven't noticed a bird that looks like that through the window here before. i felt sad, seeing the plastic as nest material. maybe i should be more optimistic, and think at least maybe it can be used. but i worry it will just hurt the creatures. i felt glad to see the robin looking to make a home here.
