HP 200LX and WWW ================ I finally have made one of my HP 200LX machines connected to the Internet! I have got a working NetGear FA411 PCMCIA card so I'm now able to connect my 200LX to hte wired Ethernet. I have been using the LXCic software [1], the mTCP (the DHCP client, the ping and the telnet, for example) and the MicroWeb [3] for the WWW. It's not too hard to set up taht stuff, surprisingly [4]. WWW browsing on a machine with the 8086 CPU is of course a bit limiting. Only http:// sites, of course. And RAM/OS/architecture limitations are here, too (by the way, the Technomorous [5] loads quite quickly). The whole thing is not extremely stable and the battery can be eaten quite quickly (the 20LX runs on a pair of AA batteries). I will probably have little use for such setup but it is quite nice it is still possible. Written on the SGI O2 (is should be doable on the 200LX via telnet, too but I'm way too lazy to try that!).
