=================================================================== Happy New Year 2026-01-01 =================================================================== It's January 1st. The internet assures me that this is when discipline activates, motivation becomes permanent, and last year's bad habits are auto-deleted. Fascinating. I'm still waiting for my heart rate to notice. Still declining New Year's Resolutions -------------------------------------- I am not: - "Starting fresh" - "Becoming my best self" - "Listening to my body" (it wants cake and praise) Resolutions are enthusiasm without structure. They peak today and quietly expire on the first cold, dark weekday. Fitness does not reboot. Adaptation does not care about intentions. And midnight did nothing to my lactate curve. 2026 Cycling Goals ------------------ - Not resolutions. A training plan. - Ride more, mostly boringly easy (Below LT1, yes that "too easy to be impressive" pace.) - Build base like winter exists (Because it does.) - One real performance target (Not twelve "maybe races.") - Stay uninjured by doing less stupid training (Still experimental.) - Enjoy riding, not narrating it (The bike doesn't need a story.) Heart rate only. LT1 to build. LT2 when it actually matters. Final Notes ---------- While everyone else announces that this is their year, I'll be quietly accumulating aerobic adaptations. No fresh start. No transformation arc. Just consistency, patience, and a suspicious amount of easy riding. Happy New Year.
