He was from Wynne, Arkansas and he wrote some great songs. "Mighty Oaks" is about all the Bluesmen who inspired him and "Blues Acres" is a harmonica instrumental. He will be missed. Here he is now, Mark Sallings. Mark was a fanatic about his cars. In between tours he would relax by working on them. Mark played at the Craighead Forest Bandshell and all over the United States. Mark and many other great musicians can be heard on Delta Boogie. That's deltaboogie.com on the internet. I'm Hairy Larry and you're listening to Something Blue on KASU. We're going acoustic for the rest of the show. Uncle Fred Wilson is another great songwriter and a Blues Fest regular. From his "The Windfall Collection" CD here are two songs with a religious angle, "9th Commandment" and "CJ's Blues". Uncle_Fred_Wilson-The_Windfall_Collection-9th_Commandment.wav Uncle_Fred_Wilson-The_Windfall_Collection-CJs_Blues.wav Uncle_Fred_Wilson-The_Windfall_Collection-Wishbone.wav And that's Uncle Fred singing "Wishbone". Suzanne Michell is fiddling along. Uncle Fred plays a lot of Leadbelly and he wrote "Wishbone" Leadbelly style. Closing the show we have a couple of Blues songs by Jeff Norwood. We'll hear "Black Dark" and "Walking Catfish Blues". Jeff's new CD is called "Awendaw". Until next time this is Hairy Larry reminding you once again, Blues is the mainstream.
