Please select the notifications you want to receive, add writers and stories to your reading list, and let me know if you don't receive a notification you expected or if you receive a notification you didn't expect. Also suggestions for improving the text in the notifications are appreciated. Vivian and I worked on this but we are at a disadvantage in that we know what we're trying to say. You should not be notified of a post you made. If you are let me know. Email - hairylarry@deltaboogie.com Thanks --- I added all the text in the email notifications to the language files, en.php and lang.php. Please let me know about anything that reads funny or maybe is just plain missing. --- Bug reports Since I added notifications I have received an error. The error is printed at the top of the screen and usually says ..... file not found ..... If you get this error report please send me a bug report. Copy and paste the error from the top of the screen. This way I get the exact error. Copy and paste the contents of your address bar. This way I get what program caused the error. Any additional info like what you were doing when the error occurred and whether the error screwed it up or not will be helpful. Thanks Email - hairylarry@deltaboogie.com --- --- Newest posts first. --- Jazz... continued I watched as more of the club's clientele were marched through the door and wondered what the funny business was. Then they brought Bobby "Beau" Brio in. I was shook. I leaned over to Jonas and whispered, "You see who they just brought in?" "Yes," he said, then went back to silently watching the scene. Feeling miffed I ran my eyes over the faces and realized that there were only a few I didn't recognize even if I didn't really know them. Then I saw Cecile. What the heck was she doing here? Cecile Potter's father, Wayne, owns the club she considers a blight on her social status. I'm busy making all kinds of conjectures when she spots me. With a look of relief on her face she walked over to where I was sitting and squeezed in next to me practically pushing me onto Jonas's lap. "How's it going?" I asked. "Oh absolutely flippin great. Best night of my life." she hissed. "So why are you here? I didn't see you at the club." "They came to the house." Posted by vivian - posted on 2018-06-26 at 11:43 Central Time. Jonas and I and Jack Kumakis, the washed up trumpeter. The sergeant asked for ID and we dug for it. He read our IDs and made some notes in a book. Jonas and Jack looked like they had been through this drill before. I think they thought we would be released but the sergeant said, "You guys look clean but there's been some funny business going on at that club and we got orders to question everyone. Just sit over there and the detective will get to you as soon as he can. Been a busy night so far." The bench wasn't comfortable but there wasn't anything we could do about it. Jonas took it in stride but Jack was a little jumpy. I wondered if he was up to something but then again I was jumpy and I knew I wasn't up to nothing. I started to chat but Jonas gave me a look and I shut my gob. Just the three of us, sittin' there not saying anything. I think that was the plan. "What was that? What just happened?" "He wasn't really at the table with you." Abriel replied. "You can think of it as a hologram or as astral projection, the result is the same, he looks like he's there but he's not." "He was over at that other table. That was really him. And that disappearing act, he does that. I don't know how." "In the day he's weak but I hate to have him following us." Abriel continued. "I think we need some distance between us and the park. This is a new development, I've got to think about it." My knees were still shaking but I bucked up. "We could go to my place." I said. He said, "No, we don't want him following you there. Let's get on a bus and ride." We walked to a bus stop and waited eyes peeled. I didn't want to see him but I didn't want him sneaking up on us either. A man was sitting across from me and he seemed to be immune to physical attack. So where did that leave me or should I say us since Abriel was potentially in more immediate danger than me. Surprisingly Abriel did not seem to be all that concerned. He brought out a small box from his pocket and clicked a switch on it. The image across from me began to distort and develop odd waving lines. "He's around here somewhere." Abriel muttered and he has to be close by. He whirled around and focused his little box on nearby tables. Two tables away a man appeared amid gasps from those sitting nearby. He rose and bowed and then disappeared as applause erupted among the diners. A guy at the next table yelled bravo! I've never seen such a great trick before. How did you do that? "Trade secret." Abriel replied. "Let's get out of here now." he threw some cash on the table and led the way to a door that opened out onto a wide paved pathway. "Seen what?" I asked. "This multiple thing." he said. "Well not multiple mes it was actually multiple things." "So you think we are splitting atoms or something?" I asked. "No, well not really it's or something." the other me responded. "It's a possibility." "I think you are both nuts!" Fred said. "How am I involved in this?" "You ever heard of quantum physics?" we both responded at the same time. "What?" Fred fired back. "That's just a theory isn't it? You can't believe Scifi nonsense. Nobody's ever met themselves for real. This is all just some kind of wild dream or maybe a hallucination and we are going to wake up and it's just going to be us." Then Fred walked back in through the door and glared at the three of us. Posted by vivian - posted on 2018-06-11 at 20:55 Central Time. Except I went right through me and the other me merged and we became only one me. Fred was getting more carried away than usual. I mean usually when he argues with himself it doesn't lead to violence. I mean I've never seen him punch himself before. But there's always a first time, I guess. So both Freds had a big chip on their shoulders and they brought their fists up like they were in the ring or something they saw on TV. Fred tagged Fred with a quick left except it went right through him. And then there was only one Fred, not two. "I get it." I thought, and I guess the other me got it too. "Keep your hands off." he yelled and he ran out the door. I turned to Fred and said, "At least he's gone." I don't know if you've been keeping up but there was now only one me and one Fred. Except for the me that ran away. What a relief. But then I turned and I saw myself walking in from the bedroom. I guess I woke up again. Then she heard a sound like a thousand marbles pelleting the side of the ship. Then, nothing, no air whooshing, even her patch held. "Whew," she thought, "that was close." Ops came over the speaker. "That sumbee must have been hollow. It busted apart as soon as it hit." Madge crawled out from under her bed to see the captain at her door. "You ok?" he said, "Looks like your quarters just got smaller. Don't worry, we'll get it hammered back out the next time we dock." Madge replied, "At least I'm still breathing." "Captain!" the navigator cried over the speaker, "We've got problems. That impact altered our course just enough to slingshot us around Ceres. I can try for an orbit, which ain't great but otherwise we're gonna gain so much Delta V that we'll never slow down." "Emergency correction." commanded the Captain, "Try for that orbit." They heard the thrusters blast and the ship went sideways. Posted by hairylarry - posted on 2018-06-11 at 17:55 Central Time. I drank my coffee, nervously, trying not to look at him but then he sat down in Abriel's chair. I only spilled a little coffee in my lap as I looked up. Abriel was right, he had a spectral nature. His skin was luminescent and since he wasn't covered in bats I could see right through it into nothing. He did have bats peeking out from his pockets and behind his collar. Believe me, I was freaking out. He spoke so slowly and in such a low tone I could hardly make out the words. "I saw you in the park. You thought you could escape. You will never be safe again. The bats have your number." and he droned on. I saw Abriel creeping up behind him but I didn't look at Abriel. I looked straight into the spectre's face as if I were hypnotized when Abriel picked up a chair and swung straight for his head. Just as the chair was about to hit him the spectre turned and looked straight at it. The chair passed right through him. Posted by hairylarry - posted on 2018-06-09 at 19:17 Central Time. "Relax." Abriel said quietly. "We're safe for the moment." The waitress who brought our decanter of coffee and two cups smiled brightly at us as she sat them on our table. "Would you like anything else?" she asked. As I was about to say no Abriel spoke up, "Would you by any chance have a map of the park we could see?" he asked. "Of course" she responded. "We are swamped though so it might be quicker if you just stepped into the lobby and picked one up." Abriel nodded, "That's great." he said. When she walked away he asked,"You okay?" I nodded my head trying to appear calm. "I'm going to go get a map and I want you to sit here, drink your coffee and wait for me. Can you do that? When I nodded again he stood up and left. The place was loaded with more transports than I had ever seen before. I mean were they hauling in every jazz fan in the town? As we sat there waiting I saw them pulling Jack Kumakis out of a wagon and hauling him inside. Why on earth was he here? Jack is a has been, I hadn't seen him in at least two years. Not to discount him, he's a fine musician, but he just can't keep his act together if you know what I mean. The doors on our wagon were wrenched open and we saw three officers and a short chubby guy who looked less than happy to be here. He ran his eyes over us and spoke in a low voice to the cops before walking away. "Okay you bunch, out of the wagon." the cop with the most hardware snarled. "Make it quick," he added. I looked at Jonas for a clue, but he just shrugged and started toward the door pulling me along with him. "She with you?" the cop asked as we jumped down. "Yes" Jonas said taking my arm.
