__________________________________________________ A SIMPLE THING THAT MAKES LLMs LOOK MORE INTELLIGENT GP __________________________________________________ <2026-08-30 Sun> Recently I was interacting with Claude, using it as a sounding board with a silly idea of mine, when it struck me: there's one simple thing that LLMs do, out of necessity, that makes them look more intelligent. And we can do it, and look, too, more intelligent. And understand better. And produce wiser replies. And show more empathy. Claude *has* to wait for me to finish writing my entry, before even attempting to process it. Before activating its "reasoning", it has to wait for me to finish saying whatever I'm going to say. Let that sink in. It didn't jump with an answer right after the second line in my question; it didn't judge the silliness of my idea before I finished stating it in full. And with that simple trick, it looked more empathetic and more intelligent. It did point to me (with some sycophancy --agreed-- ) that the idea was silly, it showed me why and answered my questions at the end. But it waited for its turn. So this is a note to self, that I wanted to share: How about waiting, à-la LLM, for the other person to finish their talking / their asking / their idea, before we just jump-in with an answer, a criticism or a judgment? I'm not even advocating to restrain in providing those (that may be material for "further development"), I'm just asking that we wait for the other person to finish their talking.
