This is really happening now. When all the heads turn toward me and ask, "So what are we doing director?" it freaks me out a bit. My workflow happens a lot in my head. I think about what I am working on. I think all the time, and talk to myself in the car. I practice what I would say and how I would say it. I rehearse what I will say, if you will. But when I show up to practice, I have no note, no precise plan. I just go for it and see what comes out. I'm okay with that, but it might feel uncertain or unstable for the actors. I feel I have to give them an impression of at least one person having it all together. So this week we talked about food and setup. (I like to have food for the actors) Who's who and how we'll move forward. We then read the whole play, which I recorded for the actors use. I always wanted to have the play read to me and this was a good way to capture the whole play. We don't have a lot of time for the practice 6 to 8:30 sharp, so we have to use that time efficiently.
