/~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~\ Title: Getting Used to the Terminal Again Date: September 14, 2026 |~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~| I have to admit, it's taking a lot of my mental energy to get used to using the terminal again. Even with TUIs and easy access to manuals, I keep getting things crossed when I go to use a key combo or simple command. I've had to take more and more notes, rather than simply focusing on my work and using the tools as tools. That's not necessasrily a bad thing, just somewhat exhausting when I'm already dealing with a lot in general. I'm not giving up. Far from it. It's just that I'm trying to exercise more patience than I've had in a while. If I'm going to set up some more retro stuff, I'm going to need paitence to get configs and software working on old PCs and emulation. Especially if I'm going to try and do some things with FreeDOS, given my rusty DOS skills. At least I've gotten some more tools compiled, and I got more of my ebooks put into the tablet one of my mates gave me. Said tablet isn't logged into anything, and remains my NewPipe device and ebook reader now. I follow few channels in NewPipe, so most of it is for the books. Just means more room and battery life. On the positive side, I've begun learning things about pandoc and ImageMagick that I never knew before. Like the ImageMagick GUI, how pandoc handles PDF rendering with different LaTeX engines... It's been kinda fun, and briefly takes away some of the frustration. I also got to read "The Definitive Guide to ImageMagick" thanks to the Internet Archive[0]. It's been so helpful that I'm thinking of trying to get a copy off eBay once I have the spare funds, just to have an offline copy I can get to. It'll look nice next to several of my other books. In one parting comment, I have this to say: 1080p has no right to be on screens smaller than 15 inches at distance. My eyes are sighing with relief after pulling out another monitor to hook up to my laptop just to keep working. The eye drops help as well. \~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~/ [0]: https://archive.org/details/definitiveguidet0000stil
