Not a fan of that, but I have to say, the reactions from those in my personal circles have kinda made me leery of going back to Linux yet again. Beings giving gross over-reactions with every little thought, sometimes even on the violent side, and just... Ugh... I'm using my personal computer as a *personal* computer. If you don't like what I'm using, okay. I just can't give a shit anymore. Yeah, my main machine is a MacBook Pro with MacOS 10.6.8 and Windows Vista. It's what I'm comfortable with, and what works for me. My computer is something I use to do a job, not a political or fashion statement. Nothing more. I'd say the same using a Raspberry Pi 500+ running Raspbian, or a Windows machine, or a *BSD machine. It's really that simple with me. So much of the extremism killed my desire to get into the dev scene[^0], and made me retreat from the internet for the most part. It almost completely ruined retro computing for me for a while, until dropped most of YouTube and all of social media. Once that happened, I felt a little more chill about everything. At this point, I'd rather retreat into BBSes, MUCKs and MUDs, Usenet, Gopher, email, IRC, and even FTP. Being out on the open web kinda tends to suck all the life out of my hobbies thanks to being unable to hold actual conversations aside from "Z is bad and you should feel shame for existing with it" people. Meanwhile, people on the Level29 BBS[0] have been nothing but friendly, and while terse, at least the Usenet groups I follow haven't been outright toxic. That's more than I can say for even the Fediverse... [^1] And yeah, now that I've calmed down, I'm trying to learn some C and Perl programming again, and giving a serious try with Emacs LISP at some point. Maybe even GNU Guile for the hell of it. I also wanna learn how to set up a FuzzballMUCK for family and friends to use, and maybe play with CircleMUD as well for some MMO-ish fun. Still also need to work on some Inform7 games as well... \~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~/ [^0]: I blame Rust evanglists for much of it. [^1]: I'm also quite aware of twtxt and Yarn.social[1], but I've given my opinion on that matter before[2]. |~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~| [0]: https://bbs.fozztexx.com [1]: https://twtxt.net/ [2]: gopher://prismdragon.net/0/phlog/2026-03-27_twtxt.txt
