I think this is hilarious how you are playing into advertiser's and
possibly the US government's hands.  You're so blinded by this '1 GB for
email' thing that you basically agreed to this 'gmail' which takes away all
privacy you might think you have when you use email.  Is it because its a
gig of email?  Because its free?  Its really interesting because its
obviously NOT free to me.  You are willing to give up your privacy for
what? because you aren't being charged a nominal fee like say $9.95 a year?

What if google launched GMAIL at $9.95 a year with no scanning and indexing
of your private messages?  What if they also guaranteed you that none of
your email would be accessible to anyone but yourself?  You'd bitch and
moan.

But since it is free, you happily sign away your right to privacy so that
google can gather and share statistics on 'what sorts of emails make you
tick' ..

I'm sure in a few months you'll be highly entertained when you start
receiving emails like this:

Google's partners collected enough email between your parents and yourself
(which you gladly signed away privacy to) so that a directed email to which
you are an obvious audience to could be sent to you in stealth.  You'd
almost believe it .. and you might think its a good deal, so you click on
the here and sign up .. and there the concept of gmail is proven.  The
future of smart advertising is here.  Its so costly to just flood your
mailbox with lots of bogus ads .. but if gmail can direct something at you
that you know you need .. you're hooked.
