------------- | 3 Mar 2019 | | dirtyv | ------------- My First Post and The Best Chicken Sandwich in the Orion Arm ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: In gopherspace, content is king, so I scoured my brain for information worthy of sharing for my first post. Here is one of my favorite recipes, one that came about after dozen-plus iterations of tweaking. I love Chick-Fil-A sandwiches but abhor their politics, so I went about recreating them on my own. If any of these ingredients bother you, they can be omitted. However, they all play a crucial in accurately recreating the flavor of the original. This is especially true of the MSG, which was the final addition to my creation of this recipe. MSG has been sorely misrepresented in the media, and if you are apprehensive about using it, I highly recommend you check out the latest research on this unfairly maligned ingredient. Its inclusion in this recipe really helps to recreate the original flavor, which should come as no real surprise. After all, it is a component of Chick-Fil-A's recipe. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: God's Own Chicken Sandwich Recipe In your fryer: Peanut oil, to your device's specification In first bowl, place: 2 chicken breast 1 cup of pickle juice In a second bowl, mix: 3 TBS Franks hot sauce (or to taste) 2 eggs 1/2 cup milk In a third bowl, mix: 1 cup flour 1 TBS powdered sugar 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp Accent (MSG) 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp garlic powder Marinate chicken breasts in pickle juice for at least 30 minutes in the fridge, and then pound to uniform thickness. Cut each breast into thirds. Heat peanut oil in fryer to 350 F. Dip portions into wet and then dry ingredients and then immediately fry for 6-7 minutes. Pull and then verify internal temperature is at least 165 F. Note: DO NOT batter portions and let them sit; this will adversely affect final texture. Wait until your current batch is cooked before breading the next. For buns, I recommend brioche if you can get it. For the best sandwich, lather the insides with butter and place them butter-side down on a hot cast iron skillet. Check them every few seconds and pull them once they are nice and toasty.
