2006-06-21 i am convinced that it is impossible for me to function properly when the temperature reaches above eighty-five degrees. lots of errand-running today, including meeting with my thesis director. it went well, though now i must think about who my literary influences are. i think it may speak a great deal of my weaknesses as a writer that i have to reach and ponder on what these might be. checked out _the mouse and his child_ at the local library; discovered the title of the novel that this old cartoon i remember from my childhood (and thought i'd dreamed up) was based on. stayed up all night researching it along with the asterix comics/cartoons last night. many memories about my childhood coming back through these; trying to turn it into a story for my thesis/book. the book (_the mouse and his child_) is incredible. reading it out loud is a treat beyond imagining. hoban is an amazing wordscraftman. so much to do. a little nervous now about traveling abroad, but also excited. tomorro must talk to landlord about the fact i will be gone for a month, make arrangements for my rental car next weekend, work on the gse website, work on my thesis, and go see the puppetman. then will go to grandmother's house to check up on her and grab some luggage, come back to my apartment and go visit my brother, have a couple of days of relaxation and preparation. oh yes; also need to stop by mckays tomorrow to sell stuff. tonight -- wash dishes. check up on various things from susanne's list that i might be able to find. perhaps work some on gse site.
