GS (ver 1.1) Freeware GS is a DOS WATTCP Gopher server written by Mark Morley. GS requires a NIC using a WATTCP packet driver, and you must configure the WATTCP.CFG file with your IP address information (WATTCP.CFG must reside in the same directory as GS.EXE). GS uses minimal hardware resources, but can accept up to 8 simultanious client connections. GS.EXE starts the server, and pressing "ESC" terminates the session. Included with GS is an example WATTCP.CFG file (replace "xxx" with your appropriate IP address information). GS will create a GS.LOG server log file in the same directory as GS.EXE. GS expects the Gopher datafiles and menus in a subdirectory called "ROOT" that resides imediately below the directory containing GS.EXE. You can change this location by setting an environment label "GSROOT" to point to the desired directory path. Gopher Clients will not be able to view any menus or datafiles until you create descriptor files called "MENU" (these are descriptor files that contain path/port/type/etc. information required by Gopher clients). The tool MKCACHE.EXE assists in converting these MENU files to files called "CACHE" that the Gopher Clients actually use (see the document MKCACHE.TXT for details).
