We have a front runner for my book of the year. It grabbed my attention from the first sentence on Tuesday night and I stayed up past midnight last night to finish the book. I don't want to post any spoilers but it is essentially a historical fiction suspense novel set in the mid 90s, imaging the life of a teenage girl who has lived off grid in Montana with her Luddite father since she was 4. When she learns some stuff that rocks her world she splits and ends up in San Francisco at the dawn of of the Web 1.0 boom. As someone who joined a web design firm in Atlanta in early 1996, the SF timeline rang very true. The optimism that we all had back them about how the Web was going to change the world was so infectious. Of course, it did dramatically change the world, just not how we thought. Thanks Zuck. And fuck you. Anyway, great book. You should read it.
