______________________________ FIGHT IDEOLOGIES, NOT PEOPLE xuqi ______________________________ On social networks people tend to pick on others who said something they don't like. Now I see it as a behaviour that is not constructive, and eventually can blind us from really important issues. When Robert Silverberg said N.K.Jemisin's Hugo speech was a bit vulgar in 2018, he might have offended a lot of people. But I don't think people should say even more unpleasant things to him. It is the structures and systems that causes inequality and discrimination that we should fight against. The speech was inspiring but it did not point out the root cause of things. Silverberg was not fighting racial inequality, but neither did us who liked Jemisin's works. We are not qualified to say ill things to those whose ideas we disagree if we are not fighting the bigger monsters.
