BLAZED: Tales of Subliminal Congress was an e-zine I founded around 2005 around the last mutterings from the Text Scene (RIP). I had fallen in love with the scene and the unique people I met, from linear of United Phone Losers (an off-shoot, of sorts of RedBoxChiliPepper's Phone Losers of America), gir of angstmonster, The BMC of The Neo-Comintern, Steak of Addendum. I had already created my own "text-file group", The Kids on Bridges, yet I had failed to release anything tangible. BLAZED was the one and only zine I managed to curate, predicated on my then infatuation and love for marijuana. The premise: smoke weed and write t-files. Brilliant! The sub-title was from an idea for a title of a book I hoped to one day write in the vein of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas: Subliminal Congress. subliminal - adj. below the threshold of consciousness congress - n. the act of sexual intercourse So 'subliminal congress' meant the sex of the subconscious: creativity. For some reason I seem to have forever lost BLAZED #9. But then again, it's quite possible there never WAS a BLAZED #9 and I was just too stoned to know better.
