date: Sun Nov 23 10:02:00 AM PST 2025 subj: twins bath days man time ----------------------------------------------- On bath days, rather night, because its usually after 6PM, I carry my son into the bathroom. He starts to get pretty excited. I tell him we've got to get the bath ready. He sees the bath tub, with interest his head turns to look it over. I point out the faucet and the knob that needs to be turned to fill the tub. I turn the knob start to fill the tub and we watch together as the steamy water pores out of the faucet. I take him in mom and dad's bedroom and put him on the floor telling him, we've got to get naked for bath time. He kicks his feet and seems excited. He's been taking a bath since he was a month old. I pick him up and get into the bath. I test the water, and its usually hot, but not hot enough to burn or hurt us. I sit down in the tub and slowly put him in, he is always a little surprised by the warmth of the water, he takes in a deep breath, sometimes with huuuu sound, he never cries, or pulls away. The water is almost hot feeling at first touch but a moment later is nice to feel. He gets used to the warmth quickly. He kicks his legs and splashes the water with his hands. I give him one of the toys mom got the kids for bath time and he attempts to grab it in the water. Its different that he is used. He doesn't know its going to pop out of the water next to his hand, so he has to make multiple attempts to capture the sphere, but he does. We play with the toy for a time, then rinse. Mom and daughter appear in the doorway of the bathroom. I smile at her, and she asks hows it going? I say its good. She says OK you two enjoy your boys time. I reply back saying, "no, not boy time, this is man time," with a smile. I tell our son, this is man time. In my head we are in a bath house hanging out relaxing as men do. I put him in the water on his back, now that he is older his fear of getting his face wet has increased. When he was younger his natural instincts were just to hold is breath, but as babies get around six months old that goes away. He tries to sit up but its not possible in the water. Eventually I assure him, he is ok, he starts to relax. So I rinse his head and prepare him for suds-up. Suds-up, he seems to like the cool temperature baby wash, and getting all clean, and I tell him all about how to clean his belly, his chest, his arms, armpits, hands, neck, neck folds, legs, feet, and then his head, and cheeks. Then another rinse. At this point the heat of the bath has him pretty relaxed, now its time to take a few minutes just sit back, and enjoy the soak in the warm tub. The water is cooling off as a cold breeze comes in through the window. He and I lay back and I tell him, "Son, you won't remember this, but your body will. You won't know why you like baths, but you'll just like them. One day you'll give your own children a bath like this. Someday when you are older we'll go to a bath house and enjoy the bath as men." Nobody knows our future, but its a nice dream to have. For now he and I get to have our man time together and enjoy the bath until he is ready to be in there on his own. Then he and his sister will play in the bath together until its time for them to bathe by themselves.
