Our son has started sleeping 8 hours. He gets tired around 7:30 to 8:30 pm, likes his bottle before heading off to sleep. Our daughter is is starting to get tired around the same time as our son, but is only sleeping about 5 hours. Its scary and exciting. Scary because its unusual for us, and exciting because we might be able to start to get on a more normal schedule. Our son is getting stronger with his tummy time. He's putting his head up with his arms under his chest. He loves looking at the high contrast stars with stripes, and rocket ship in his play area. He did stop smiling as much this week, and has a real frown face. Its like he went from smiling to frowning. I'm hoping he smiles more because when he does he looks so happy. Today I did get a smile from him, when he was in his rocker on the table and kitty came up to visit us. I said kitty is here and he seemed to really like the word kitty. He had a huge beautiful grin, the kind that lights up a parent's heart. Only for a moment, and the lovelier the moment, the shorter it seems. He was content there and he listened while I made coffee and showed him the coffee beans. I gave him a monologue of making coffee, until I broke and told him one day we'll have coffee together. Our daughter is super interested in faces right now, and she gets a huge smile when we talk to her. She tries to talk back a bit with her coos, and most of the time she is pretty happy. She does her bam bams (kicks her legs) and just looks around with a smile or near smile on her face. Bath day again. The kids are clean ones again. No cheesy necks. My daughter was very relaxed in her bath today. I scrubbed and washed her hair. It was like she was at the salon getting a head massage. She seems like she enjoyed. She didn't wiggle all over, and let me gently scrub her head. My son behave a bit different, although he seemed to enjoy getting his head scrubbed as well, but he looks all around in the bath tub. He nearly puts his mouth in the water he is so interested in his environment. Eventually he got to relax like his sister and enjoy the warm water. He is neat to watch sitting up, he is getting so big in the bath if he was able he could sit up and his chest would be out of the water. Bath time is always a treat. The warm water seems like a natural place for them. -------------------------------- Our time off work is ending, and its a bummer. Nanny or daycare is approaching fast. We wish one of us didn't have to work so we can stay home and take care of our children, but reality is harsh. The area we live in with the economy the way it is dictates we both work, and that means our children see someone else a majority of the time during their waking hours. I can't seem to change this fact right now for us. Give the potential of some financial stability, and spend time with our children, or be destitute in the future. The later is still possible no matter how hard we try today, but there is a certainty if we don't. I still don't have to like reality. The days of one parent income and four children seemed like a good time even though I never lived it. I watch Leave It to Beaver more than once and seemed like a nice life.
