date: Sat 11 Jul 2026 09:51:32 PM PDT subj: a trip to the pool ---------------------------------------------------- Today was not an easy start. I was really tired today. I got up normal time, after interrupted sleep last night. As I lay there in bed I thought "I have got to get up. My wife has a hair appointment, so I have to get started on making breakfast so everyone can eat before she goes." My sluggishness worked against my desires. My wife ate a few bites of breakfast, then had to run to her appointment. She left and with her exit what little cheer for the day, also left when she saw her mom leave. The fuss wore me out. Luckily for me my wife eventually returned, and so did our daughter's moderate mood. Not sure if she was tired today or another tooth is bothering her but eating wasn't her thing early this morning or later in the morning. All the fuss help tire me out, so I took a nap before it was time for a visit with friends at their community pool. My nap was short like my rest the night before, but it was enough to get me through the rest of the day. We loaded up kids in the truck and headed to the pool at Admirals Cove. At the pool we were greeted with beatific parents of mr. Arthur. They asked how we are doing, and I said I'm just a little tired today. Then I heard Arthur's dad has been up since 2 AM. I can't believe how he does it. He seems like he is in a good mood, given its 3:30 PM. So we unloaded the kids, and we all went into the pool area. We took turns changing into our pool clothes. My son and I went to the men's room and I got him into his swim diaper, and myself into swim trunks. My son looks pretty cool in his awesome swim suit. Its like a full wet suit but made of our some sort of UV protective thing neoprene swim suit for his entire body. Since he lost weight once he started walking it still fits him four months ago. We get out, and mom and daughter go to the women's changing room. Our daughter returns in a full kids wet suit given to her by our friends who's son Arthur out grew it. Thanks to generous friends for hand-me-downs. All suited up we all get into the pool. The water was perfect, and we all had smiles on our faces. I walked in the pool with my son, my wife walked in the pool with our daughter, Arthur and his dad was there, it was great. So lucky for such a beautiful day. The kids got to hang on mom and mom was full of joy and happiness with her babies. As we all hung out a new mother appeared in the pool with her six month old daughter. They were laughing and enjoying being in the water. A couple of hours in the pool felt like 45 minutes. Five-o-clock came and it seemed that was the time for everyone to arrive. The pool filled up with families, splashing, pool rings, kids, adults splashing, throwing balls, just a fun time. We had our fun, and our core temperature started to drop enough for shivering to start so Arthur and his parents got out, and we decided it was time for us to go to. On the way home mom said she was so happy, she wanted to cry a little. What a perfect day. We drove back home hung out for a little while on the porch with the cat, so our kids could have a short nap before we took them inside and prepared dinner. After going in our daughter's mood was back to being her happy self. Our son and daughter played after dinner, and no fussing all the way up to bed time. -------------------------------- Our daughter is getting much better at walking. She still has a little bit of the Frankenstein's monster but she is getting better and better. Our son has mellowed out quite a bit. He seems happy his sister is walking. He and his sister are playing together more. His personality is starting to show more and more. He doesn't get upset when his sister takes his toy, he listens more when told not to bang things on the windows, or touch the stove. He's smiling and laughing at things. Both of them are pointing to stuff they want.
