date: Sat 04 Jul 2026 10:41:10 PM PDT subj: twins 2nd 4th of july ---------------------------------------------------- Its pretty late, all around me I hear the fireworks popping. Now and again I see a flash and a large boom echos around me. I used to like fireworks, but as I've gotten older, they remind me less of a celebration and more of munitions. My mind goes to the national anthem and I hear the hell so many people were facing, fighting for their lives, killing each other. A warrior culture is still alive and well, and although it has its purpose, at my age I wish for something more, but as animals we are its part of us. Like all animals we eat things that are alive, or very recently dead. We split from our ancient ancestry the plants, and went a different route, so the animal kingdom is where we reside and in that kingdom exists hierarchies, no escaping it. So I stay in doors, realize the people want to feel like they are the excitement of course I was once like they are when I was young, but not that I'm older I listen from indoors and write about the day. Today was a wonderful day. Grandma and Grandpa came over. We got up a little late today, started preparing, but not as much as in the past, I cooked the family breakfast. Down to our last 6 eggs. Two and a half eggs for the babes, one and a half waffles, one and a half sausage, and five blueberries each. It was supposed to be one egg each, but mom sometimes gives up part of her meal for the babes. She was supposed to get two eggs, two waffles, one sausage, some walnuts, some blueberries if she wants, and a large cup of coffee. I usually eat two eggs, two waffles, one sausage, blueberries, walnuts, and yogurt, and a cup of coffee. Its a glorious breakfast in my mind. Feeding the babes is mom's job lately. Her temperament is a lot better than mine, and the babes are learning a lot more from her temperament than my frustration. She gets frustrated, but we are learning more and more how to feed these little babes. First its eggs over medium well. Never ever ever show them any other food items before the protein has been eaten, else they just spit out the eggs and ask for waffles. So mom's gotten pretty good at that, but today our son gobbled up his eggs quickly, as did our daughter, and our son also woofed down his waffles. Mom placed two blue berries on his tray, our daughter saw the berries, on his tray, spit out her waffle and eagerly expected blue berries to also land on her tray. He pointed to the counter saying eeeey!, which means Give Me Berries! Mom made it through breakfast, and I had time to eat my food as well. Lately I don't even use utensils when eating. I place my over medium egg on a waffle and fold it up then start biting it hoping none of the yoke drips out. Since mom feeds the babes, I cook and clean up. The tasks work fairly well. I don't get angry and our children for wasting food, and nobody gets traumatized during meals. Just as I was at the end of cleanup Grandma and Grandpa arrived. Oh the excitement. The babes still in their chairs were happy to see the elders. Everyone was happy. ******************************* With a good meal and well rested babes, they were two happy little people playing bang things on the table, for Grandma and Grandpa to enjoy. Our daughter loves the faces her Grandpa makes at her. She took a couple of steps for him. She saw him, he did his magic at her, held out his arms, and with a huge smile on her face took two steps into his arms. It was a wonderful moment. ******************************* * She is deciding she wants to be a walking person. Eventually the babes tired themselves out and mom put them both down for a mid morning nap. They slept for two hours, while the rest of us enjoyed a little peace and quite. We all got to hang out and just be in the same room together. I eventually did a little preparation for making bread. Last night on our walk from the park I gathered some rosemary, perfect for Saturday bread making. Bread is getting too expensive buy but one loaf lasts us until the next week usually. Today I fortified our rosemary bread with a half cup of milled french green lentils. All the ingredients into Grandpa's old bread maker. The day went by faster that usual. Every time we are with our parents, time just zooms by. Today mom cooked the food Grandma brought over. Pasta with Chicken and Broccoli with garlic bread, and Caesar salad. Just as my job was to try and keep the babes out of the kitchen. Grandma helped gather up the babes into their bedroom. We played with the new used toy box Grandma and Grandpa brought over. Our son was fascinated with the lid, he had to understand how to open close it. We must have spent fifteen minutes just opening and closing the toy box. Our daughter was busy going between her room and where Grandpa was. We did our best to stay out of the way, but babes are fast, and the kitchen isn't far. Eventually though, Grandma captures our son, and relaxed with him in mom's nursery chair for awhile. He seemed like he was going to take a nap on Grandma's lap. It was pretty cute scene so I told mom to get a picture of Grandma with her Grandson. Our son gobbled up the noodles and chicken. He just kept loading up the food in his mouth, mumbling yum mmmmmmm. Our daughter only wanted to play with food. Second nap mom Relaxing with Mom and Dad. The end of the day came quick 5:30 PM Grandma and Grandpa had to go home. 9:30 to 5:30 just isn't that much time. Everyone was so happy, mom was happy the babes were super happy, I always love seeing my in-laws. I don't really think of them that way. I just love them. The day always goes by so fast with them. Before bed it was all about the toy box. Our son put just about every toy into the box. His arms aren't long enough to get them out, but I don't think he cares. Mom came up to him while he was on the edge of the box, and gave him a toy she thought he wanted, but nope, right back into the box he threw it.
