Children traumatized also know as brushing their teeth. The trauma is more on the parents side. Our children cry like we are pulling their teeth, but as soon as we stop brushing their teeth they are instantly back to being happy little people. As the happiness resumes, as good as it can for tired little people, or shale I say tired dad, I announce five more minutes until bed. Nobody really cares. Not my little boy, not my little girl, and not my beautiful wife. Its still playtime and there is a lot of fun to be had right now. Our little boy has his hands Sesame Street, smart pad. A toy with lots of buttons to press. Mom got it at the town garage sale for a dollar. Our daughter has a little kids radio for 50 cents at the same garage sale, and she has just ditched it for her astronaut doll between the cribs. She stands up, lets go of the crib, mom puts her hands out and says come on you can do it. Our daughter takes three steps into mom's arms. Mom tells her good job and gives her a hug. Our daughter is starting allow hugs and kisses from mom and dad. She moves back to the crib, drops the doll, while holding her brothers crib with one hand she grins at mom and lunges at her. I can't believe what I'm seeing here. Then she moves back to hides behind the crib and peeks through the slats of the crib. She can see mom through the slats, but to her she still hiding. She then steps out from behind the crib lunging toward mom. Mom realizes our daughter is trying to surprise her. Mom acts surprised, our daughter begins to laugh and then moves back behind the crib to hide from mom. She pops out from behind the crib, as mom pulls back with surprise, our daughter moves forward to get her, then stops short, not knowing how exactly how to get mom, but still she is having a great time. She laughs. Our son, joins in laying belly down on the carpet, with his hands tucked under his legs, facing away from mom and sister. Then when he is discovered by dad (me), gets up, stands braces himself against sisters crib, and as sister pops out from in between the cribs to surprise mom again he throws himself onto the carpet hiding. This was one of those moments of gold. No camera, no video capture, just joy and laughter, and awe to experience, our babes, doing things not done before. Earlier I chased our little boy around the living room and kitchen while our little girl ate dinner.
