date: Tue 09 Jun 2026 10:08:40 PM PDT subj: happy little girl astronaut. ------------------------------------------------------------ 7:05 AM, mostly ready for the day, hot coffee is in my sixteen ounce JSTARS cup, oat meal is in the pot ready to be cooked, cinnamon, black pepper, turmeric, walnuts, and chia seeds are in the bowl, but slightly late. My little boy is being patient considering today I woke up to him crying at six thirty. I walked passed his room and for some reason the door was ajar! He saw me and that was enough to really get him upset. I shut their door, and continued trying to get ready. As I worked at preparing for they day, the nany, my meeting I was listening for him, and just before seven, he calmed down. I hear a knocking on the other side of the wall. Hmmmm he started playing with the picture of the planets hanging on the wall next to his crib. Time for me to get in there and greet them for the day. I sneak in to their room, and say "what's going on?" with a big smile on my face. Poor little guy thinks he is in trouble. He takes his hand away from the picture, and looks at me. "What's going on?" I laugh and say "Good morning big boy!" I walk over to the window and pull the blinds open. "Look at the day! The trees are waving all over the place." His sister says "Ah!" and jumps up, her hair is crazy looking. Its all forward like she has been in the wind storm last night. Its sticking up in the back and the top is all forward into her face. She has a big smile. I say "Good morning!" My son smiles, and I touch his arms, then pick him up. I bring him to the window and show him the trees waving in the wind, as I sway back and forth. I put him in his sisters crib and say "You're in your sisters spot!" My daughter looks at me in disbelief, the looks at him with excitement she says "Ah!" He looks down at the space theme on the sheets, then looks up and smiles with a huge grin. "You're in there together!" I leave him in there, and pick up his sister to change her diaper. She points at the lamp above, then I put her on the changing table. She went from happy to fussy instantly. I say "Noooo, you've got to get a fresh diaper. You know this every day its the same thing. Time for a fresh diaper," with a smile. I remove her sleep sack, put it over her face, she pulls it off with a huge smile, and I say "There you are!" She loves this game. After changing her diaper I put her down and get my boy out of his sister's crib. I do the same thing with him on the changing table except instead of the sleep sack. I use his pants. He is equally amused, and then he decided the pants are no good so he throws them on the floor. "What!? we need those!", I pick them up put them next to him, and again he throws them on the floor. That's it time to tickle his belly. He laughs, and now its time for business, which is much easier when the baby is happy. We start to move out to the kitchen to get the milk in sippy cups, I sing a little tune from Waylen Jennings "Were just some good ol boys." Just as the nanny appears. I tell the babes, "lets get some milk," and the thirsty babes get excited to drink milk to start their day. As I hold my daughter, the nanny helps with my son. She has an ice-pack on her knee. She tells me she hurt her knee this morning. She slipped due to her dog pulling the leash because a rabbit ran across his path. "I heard a crunch." I've been lucky to never injure my knee like that! "Sounds bad." I sympathize with her, then off I go to work, down to the basement. Later after meetings I come up stairs to heat up breakfast, and I see the nanny in pain. I ask her if she wants to go home. She says she does, so I prepare by informing work I have to take PTO today to watch my kids. So its a day, with my babes. My son is super upset every second I have to do something where there is more than three feet between us he is waling and crying out. Maybe something to do with the pounding on the roof by the workers, fixing our roof. My daughter on the other hand is happy as can be. Its funny she has a smile everywhere she is, and my son is absolutely upset if he isn't being held. After another hour of this, I notice when I picked him up, he put his head on my shoulder ... he is tired, but the pounding doesn't seem conducive with a nap. OH well, got to try. So with the noise machine, I select the forest rain, and put him in his crib. Poor guy can't stand it, but within a few minutes he is quite, quite asleep. Just before that my daughter wants to go in the room with her brother. I say "He is trying to take a nap, don't bother him." She is a good listener, but in this case I have to scoop her up. We get to hang out, and hanging out with the cutest little girl on the planet is pretty fun. She has a smile on the time. We play with the balloon, and then she gets up close to me. She is on the verge of walking but something has her confidence right now. Her little hands on my shoulders, then move to my back. I turn my neck to try and see her, and she is smiling with her teeth showing. She has a small stuffed blue berry in her hand, and she is playing hid and seek. So funny, then as she makes it all the way from my right side to the left, she looks at me and says "astra. aaasstr." I say "astronaut?" She says "aastrah nah". I ask her "where is your astronaut?" She crawls into the other room and goes right by her astronaut, but finds something more interesting. She returns and I sing the tune from one of the albums we listen to, Yes 92510. She starts to dance a bit, then she crawls to her mom's tape player and taps on the analog display. I ask her if she wants me to play the music and I put it on. We sit and listen to music for awhile. and she sits in my lap and isn't decided to wrestle mania or roll out of my lap. Her nap time has just arrived. As the music plays she begins to fall asleep. I grab a pillow from the couch lay back on the floor and take the opportunity to nap as well. Almost two hours of laying on the floor with my daughter between my legs and the cat on my chest. My legs are not happy, and the pain is starting, but I don't want to disrupt her nap, naps for her are kinda rare. Mostly its one of them goes down, the other goes down about ten minutes after, five minutes later the first one wakes up, sometimes waking up everyone. Lucky this time. After a full day of hanging out with my happy little girl, mom finally got home. After mom fed the kids, and I fed us, we were all playing hanging out. Our daughter started talking about her astronaut, and mom asked her, "Where's your astronaut?" Our little girl crawled into the haul got her astronaut and brought it back! Mom says "I think her first word is astronaut." I agree. "It will be a cool story when she is flying around Pluto." mom says. So true. --------------------------- It wasn't a battle to brush my son's teeth tonight! Usually its a gosh dang wrestling match. His hands squirming to be free to grab the end of the tooth brush where the tooth paste is, then wipe it on his face and pants, or my arm, wherever, then just angry screaming, but I will admit when the screaming starts the mouth is open and I can easily brush teeth. Before the scream starts is bite the tooth brush, or put the lips over the teeth. Tonight was different. He did have to squirm a bit, but only a bit. I explained to him, let me brush your teeth, and make them nice and clean, he seemed to just let go and let it happen. Mom said "He really must be tired." I don't know but maybe his is starting to understand teeth gots to be brushed. I will admit the boy is smart. I can show him how to operate the noise machine and he will repeat the process, turn on its lamp, turn on the noise, switch the noise. He puts the balls in the gravity carousel, all sorts of things. I hope to find a way to say yes to him more, instead of saying no to all the things he can't do, like bang glass door on the walk, or hit the windows, or the worst which seems to be his favorite, pull on the oven door, or trying to turn the stove gas on. Nonetheless, I love them. I love my family. I'm lucky to have a beautiful family.
