I've been a bit occupied with computing stuff, working on a few ideas I had for awhile for my gopher and I'm happy to have worked them out and implemented them. All things in that realm are a bit slow to get done, most energy is devoted to babes, and what little energy I have left at the end of the day leaks out like a dripping faucet. Our son is totally walking around. He is getting fast and his balance is improving daily. He is pretty impressive and for the most part he is happy about his walking. Tonight he was even walking with his arms raised up over his head. He has a box from costco, he flipped it over, and since the weekend he has been trying to climb on it. Well tonight he did and sat on it. My wife and I were watching him as he was climbing on to it. I said to my wife "remember that couple with the kids we saw in the airport?" "who?" my wife asks. I say "The couple with the kids in the wagon, and the boy standing up in the wagon and when the parents were talking to us, he just fell out and landed on his head." "Oh yeah" she says, "When I saw him fall I felt so bad for him." I say "Remember how they acted and told us, 'He's fine', as if nothing had happened." "Yeah." she says. Just then our son falls off the box and hits his head on the corner of the door frame. My wife gasps! Picks him up as he starts crying. I say "He'll be fine." Thinking how one of the two boys just fell out of that wagon at the airport security check and the parents reacted like it was a bag that fell out of the wagon. The little boy didn't even cry. My wife holding our son is terrified as she inspects him for damage. She sees something on the back of his head, ask "What is that?" I'm unable to get the words out. .. thinking 'is it a some sort of parasite leach stuck to his head?! Its got to be a bump or mark from the fall he just took.' my lethargy is getting to my patients .. As I move closer to inspect him, he sees me cries directly at me, and holds up his arms, wanting me to pick him up. I pick him up, hold him close, put my hand on the back of his head and snuggle him, as I tell him you're going to be OK. About thirty seconds later he is OK, wants back down, and walks over to the box he just feel off of and makes a half attempt to get back on it. I say to my wife, "One day we are going to find them standing on top of the counter." She says out loud "Their going to kill me. I worry about them so much. I'm not going to survive. They are going to kill me." expressing how scary it is. It is dang scary for her. They are her in a way, part of her, they came from her. And since they were known about she was concerned for them as she carried them inside her, doing everything in her power and mind to protect them (a story for another day). The good news is he really is fine. I'm sure the mother of that little boy in the airport also once believed her babies were super frageelay. "Oh it happens all the time," the woman said, as her and her family left the security area. Our daughter is a little scared right now, kinda how our son was just before he started walking. He spent two weeks not really even wanting to stand up, then he just decided he was going to walk. It was like that moment he was done worrying about falling down and right then started walking, and he did. So our little girl seems like that is where she might be. Its difficult to say. Although today she has been standing a lot more compared with the last week. She is working on something else though, she is trying to mimic what we say, and identify things with words. A couple nights ago mom and daughter were playing with a small stuffed astronaut. Mom would say ass troo naut, ass trooo naut, astronaut, and our little girl would say aatronau. Mom and I .. We looked at each other and couldn't believe it. So again mom would say astronaut, and sure enough our little girl was trying to repeat it. This morning when I came in to say good morning, and picked her up she said aatronau. I smiled and repeated it to her. She had a delighted expression on her face. What a cutie. Babes are going off bottles. They've had their first dentist appointment and that helped scare the hell out of us. They showed us all the effects of sugar drinks, and milk is one of those drinks. The terrible pictures of little children's teeth decaying. Looks very painful, and so no bottles of milk before going to bed anymore. Its doc brown straw cups with water. They get a sippy cup with milk close to bed time, but after that its brush teeth. At the dentist office, brushing teeth was a breeze. I sat in a chair facing the dentist close enough so our knees were touching. Then I laid my child down on a pillow in his lap. He gently opened the child's mouth, looked inside, even used a small mirror, then brushed their teeth. It was like my children were under some sort of spell for a moment. The night before our children were acting like we were inflicting great pain upon them. Mom and I even argued about going to the dentist, and what could they possibly have to do with our child's teeth. In my mind they were going to be strapped into a dentist chair have the giant light pulled down, and go through a full on traumatizing alien abduction type examination of the mouth. To my surprise it was like magic spells cast upon my child. I think our kids were so shocked by the new person, and the situation they didn't have time to cry out or complain. Brush teeth is not a fun thing for parents. With a half pea size amount of child toothpaste that smells like strawberry to me, upon putting the brush in their mouth, they think its some sort of treat they are being fed. Having to hold their hands down, use the crook of my elbow to hold their head in place, then attempt to brush their teeth as they bite down on the toothbrush. Eventually .. in about 15 seconds they get really upset, try to get their arms free, while trying to sit up, which causes me to apply more force to hold them in place, which causes even more wiggling and resistance. Once the aaaaahhhh! starts, then brushing teeth gets pretty easy for a moment. But our babes are persistent little wigglers, so cry out louder, and become wigglier, doing their best to show how much terribleness I'm inflicting upon them. We get it done, and allow them to do their own brushing. Tonight by boy wanted none of it, and showed me by wanted to grab the toothbrush, so he could throw it down. I offered it to him a few times and each time he throw it onto the flow. The last couple nights he was happy to try brushing himself, but I really murfed him tonging. Mom and I have been doing pretty good. Although I'm more tired, she has more energy due to riding her bike, and she is less stressed out. So its a good thing for her to help regulate those hormones with some exercise. I'm happy to see her getting some exercise, she is so young and beautiful.
