date: Mon 25 May 2026 10:27:25 PM PDT subj; babes the world is getting scary ------------------------------------------------------ We had an excellent weekend. One extra day! That extra day helps a lot for me. I was stressing about being exhausted. Friday night I was grumpy, critical, and forgetting I'm part of a team and my wife is my team mate. She works really hard, and has a long commute, and all her hard work tires her out, and it tires me out too. I work hard, we both work hard, and we do all we can to help each other, except sometimes I forget how much help I get. I guess I lose myself in my own selfishness. Its hard to get out of that mode sometimes, but on the weekend when my wife is home, and I see her beauty, and we work as a team, I start to remember. I get energized. I remember how much she helps me. Friday evening I forgot we had plans, and I grumped out about it. I was reminded, then I thought about plans, .. the terribleness of plans. See plans suck, and people round her love to make plans. The problem with plans is they are an obligation, and when your a parent of babes, so much of your life is an obligation, its a never ending damn obligation, even the cute little kitty becomes an obligation. When energy runs low, the cute kitty running around my feet while I walk from room to room dealing with obligations as quickly and as efficiently as my tired mind can manage, the kitty obligation becomes a justification for anger. Remembering about the dang plans that sound fun when they were made; made at a time when feeling free, and rested, is easy, BUT not the same as when I'm super tired. I spent a week of hurrying up for obligations and this weekend is now looking to be full of them. Thinking about waking up to extra obligations in the morning causes me to tell my wife we need to plan for rest. I mean real rest, she is tired, I'm tried, there are chores piling up, we need real rest, not more obligations. So with a full attorney style argument for why we need to plan for rest days on the calendar, in hopes my plea to my judge and partner will see the reasoning behind my request, I issue an annoying demurrer. I'm sure she understands, but my contention for planning, even for rest is equally exhausting and bothersome to her as tomorrows nagging obligation in my mind is bothersome. Tomorrow came, and I was prepared for it. I planned to make the best of it. Then I was hit with the news. The plans are cancelled. Our friends with a child the same age as ours, got in a fight during the night over their child not sleeping and whatever parents of one year old babies go through. They go through some shtuff. I couldn't believe it. My wife told me she was going to the memorial day parade, and she told me I could stay home and do chores. What! my brain can't believe this. How is this real. I want to go with my wife, but I thought its probably good for her to talk with her friend about husbands and how they are sometimes hard to deal with. So I better get my chores done, I made a stink about it, so staying home and doing chores is a must. I did, pulled out blackberry bushes trying to grow into my neighbors yard, holly berry bushes, worked on the lawn, and stuff that needed doing. Although I thought of my wife and kids and hoped they were enjoying life and the parade, I was happy to be able to get what needed doing done a little bit. So obligations to see grandma and grandpa the next day felt like fun, and not dodging my responsibilities. Our drive was good, we spent some time talking, and listening to our babes babble. When we got to grandma and grandpa's the sun was out, and grandma greeted us. Stranger danger, for the first time. Our babes saw grandpa and --------------- decided he, or where they were was scary. I've never seen both our son and daughter cry about being around anyone. What a time to express their worries. With a loud cry and red face our boy slowly scooted towards mom on his knees as if he could barely make it. Our daughter was drooling with her sobs, also in a sort of slow motion paralysis. They were pretty dramatic, but after fifteen minutes discovered all the things they shouldn't touch and decided those things were much more important that being scared of family members. The babes opened their birthday gifts so grandma and grandpa could see their fun. The kids enjoyed some of the interesting things they got, for a few moments, until it was back to getting into everything else, they weren't offered. The lamp shade on the end table. The heater, cords to things, a speaker near the TV with nobs, grandpa's wood box collection. Grandma and grandpa said "Its ok if they touch those, they can't hurt them." I rebutted with "If you like them used like hammers, and thrown around, then OK, but if not, better keep them from those things." With that in mind it was best to let the boxes rest without baby hands on them. I got to cook us turkey burgers out on the grill, with grandpa helping a little. The meal was great, even though our son cried through most of it while refusing to nap. I eventually finished eating then took a nap with him. After a couple hours we came out, and enjoyed the back yard, some bits of food and freedom in on and off the deck. Grandpa says NO our son listens. That was a shock. He actually decided not to continue with his intended desire to touch the heater buttons. Although it was unplugged, he had no idea. He remembers pushing that little button makes something happen. Something interesting, and interesting is enough of a reason to do anything. This time the intention is met with a "NO." not a NOOO!, just a simple but serious "NO." Grandpa thought that was great, so he decided to try it on other things. Like just saying "NO." at him, grandpa would crack up about it, until grandma decided that isn't the correct use of "NO." Grandpa laughed, gave a shrug with . This time the intention is met with a "NO." not a NOOO!, just a simple but serious "NO." Grandpa thought that was great, so he decided to try it on other things. Grandpa laughed, gave a silly smirk face silly smirk face, and decided it was enough. ------------------------------------ Monday: Dad took a nap with daughter, moments like these must be taken, they will go fast. She is one to be OK with sleeping on a parent, but not as often compared to a four months ago. Its always pretty cute to be part of a nap with your baby. ------------------- Son kisses mom, and its super cute. Mom makes a kissing sound with her mouth and her lips show for kiss, and our little boy kisses her. He love his mommy.
