We took the kids to windjammer park on Saturday and Sunday. Both days the weather was good, and the kids had a great time. It was fun to watch them climb up the latter/steps to the slide. For them this is a big climb, and a tall slide, even though its only about as high as my chest. Our daughter did very well on the climb and she was happy to slide down. There was a couple times when she slid down her landing wasn't optimal for her. She just flew straight off and landed on her but into the wood chips, and when that would happen her head would slightly bump the slide. With excited encouragement from mom and dad, she felt OK enough to go another round. A few times she went down backwards, and those times she was happy because her feet stopped her at the bottom when they landed in the wood chips. Our son took a few turns on the slide as well. He is a little more cautious than his sister, but he is learning. He had a huge grin when he went down. At the bottom he immediacy wanted to go back up, but instead of the latter, he wanted to walk right up the slide. A couple feet was as far as he could go before it got to steep then he slid back down. The kids are understanding more and more of what we are saying. At the park our son decided he was just going to walk off and go on his own. He liked the plants along the sidewalk, and the pink sprinkler heads. He had to investigate each one as he past them. He reminds me of myself when I was very young, walking off or hiding in the clothe racks while shopping with my mom at Jc Penny's or other stores. I remember a bit of those times, once where I escaped and walked across busy traffic into another parking lot, where the old tower records was. I can't believe my mom actually found me. So as my little boy was just on his walk about I called out to him and told him I'm going back to the park. He turned and saw me heading the other way and kinda started going in that direction until he found something on the ground that he should put in his mouth. From a distance I couldn't make out what it was by I called out to him "No! Don't put that in your mouth!" Not soon enough, he had it in there a moment but actually took it out as a briskly walked towards him. Turns out he thought a pistachio nut shell was worth a taste test. we started heading back to the park when mom appeared with the stroller to collect us all. Our daughter was doing a bit of this as well. Just walking out of the play area at the park and going to see what's around. She had to test her climbing skills on the cement barriers. With a little help she pulled herself up, and then walked back and forth on the barrier. The barrier just above her chest height. Both days mom hasn't been feeling well. The sickiness finally got to her. Yesterday was pretty bad, but today she is still in the middle of the virus. We think its Rhino Virus, but it could also be Covid, we aren't sure. We had to get home, today was a special day for mom. The kids got their 15 minute nap during the car ride and stop at the store. At home mom put on the Mariners Game, Rick Rizzs special even game for his retirement. It was a great game, and he gave a great speech for his final official Mariners broadcast. Mom got emotional. For her all her life she has been watching baseball, and hearing Dave Niehaus and Rick Rizzs, but now the end of that time has came. Its sad, in ways, but the way of things. Rick certainly had a way of bringing a person to the game, and that style of announcing the game has become a lost art. The kids enjoyed many parts of the game, but every time a song with a harmonica came on our daughter was laughing and dancing. A good weekend. I hope mom gets better soon, the work week starts again, and drains us all. EOF 96
