TACKER: avoyager (Avo Yager) SUBJECT: credulity DATE: 05-Dec-07 04:49:04 HOST: sverige "It may be unwise to reject the sources of wisdom that have been traditionally found in history, philosophy, and the arts. These disciplines do not give us mathematical knowledge or knowledge acquired in the laboratory, but to say that for these reasons what they give us is not knowledge in any sense is to disregard the facts and to put the world of knowable things in a dogmatic straight jacket." --Mortimer Adler, "The Great Conversation" The fact that "science" cannot answer "the question", does not invalidate the question, or the need for an answer. Some, and only some, essential matters can be answered and understood by the sciences. Those who don't see beyond the laboratory ("there is no God") are as blind as those who don't see beyond faith ("there is no science/evolution") or who don't acknowledge either beyond their own personal limits of imagination and experience.
