As it happens, the "natural human" does indeed behave differently from what
they [profess to] belive; they're politically correct, nice and polite,
deceptive, deceitful, insincere, and the like. These are examples of ways
in which we are capable of professing that which we do not believe; or in
other vocabularies, believe what we do not will.

point conceeded. There is fortunately a substantial variety of Christian. I
am one; I have discoursed with hundreds; I have heard and read hundreds of
others.

I'll offer the modification that, yes, hypocrisy is what irritates me the
most. I don't care if somebody is of any religion, or even no religion; but
I detest hypocrisy, which I find abundant in the loudest self-proclaiming
Christians to whom are provided a broadcasted and distributed public voice
in America.

Back to the original question of "sacrifice", I refer also to the "died for
our sins" mantra in grokking the "excuse not to live by" statement from the
original thread; together with the hypocrisy of course :)

the Divine message of all religions, and of considerable academic research,
and common sense, is ...
