End of Year Stuff Oh, okay, so what to say here. First off there's this dynamic tension - phlogging or blogging are fun but I less and less want any random bot or AI to suck up my content for their own purposes. So do I remain silent? Or find some way to phlog that nobody will find or read (which is essentially remaining silent)? News-wise, I'm at ten weeks until retirement. I may have to jink it around a bit. But do I dare say that and risk one of my coworkers finding out before I want them to? I like my coworkers but I have long since learned not to trust the companies that employ us. Maybe I'll delete this. What other news? Well, my best friend Keith is dying. Again, who do I want to read this? Not Keith, that's for sure. And anyone who knows about cranial glioblastomas knows the situation. But neither do I need to dangle this in front of his loved ones. But yeah. Good news, marrying this amazing woman on Thursday. Joy and I went out once in 1980 and she was always 'the one that got away.' We reconnected by luck in 2018, and now we're getting married. I've told everyone important in my life, but haven't told my ex-wife. It's not really her business, she's welcome to go get married herself, but the part of me with post-divorce PTSD is very afraid of what she might say or do in response. I'm not proud of admitting that I'm still afraid of my ex-wife's reaction but there ARE reasons why she's my ex-wife. And then... Portugal. I've been keeping VERY quiet about us moving to Portugal, because along with not trusting companies with my employment, I don't trust this administration with my life. I don't want them to suddenly decide that people retiring to other countries should be put in detainment in Panama. I'm very anxious that we're not going to get out in time, but I can only go as quickly as the bureaucracy allows. I HOPE I'm paranoid and overreacting, but we're already engaging in light ethnic cleansing and disappearing people to gulags, so it doesn't really feel like I'm wrong. I see these people posting "In 2028 we'll set things right" and I'm, like, have you studied history child? Even if we go through the ritual of an election, don't expect it to be fair. I don't even know what "fair" means after the last election, in which the media was entirely on the side of the GOP. Is it fair that everyone got to vote the way they wanted, but what they wanted was carefully manufactured by the entire mainstream media? Sigh. I dunno, maybe I will wait til I'm in Portugal to post this and then just backdate it to today...
