Migraines and Portuguese I purchased the textbooks for my A1 Portuguese class recently, and now I'm doing all the back-assignments that I did before in my notebook. It's helping to revisit stuff that was so hard before and is now straightforward. Progress! Unfortunately after two days of working intensively on Portuguese I woke up yesterday with the start of a migraine. Good news, it was the least severe migraine I've suffered, bad news, I still ended up in bed all day and slept an incredible amount. Very frustrating. In addition to working on my language lessons I put a little bit of time into my writing. Changed the name of my protagonist, as well. That was the last connection back to the initial inspiration, which was a fellow who I thought was a friend but who turned out to be, surprise surprise, yet another narcissist. Too bad. He could have had books written about his character, and instead I'm now writing about something else entirely. Sorry to vaguebook but I don't need to go into more detail. I put a lot of effort into my friendships, and to have them dismissed is hurtful I find myself mulling over old slights and, worse, old humiliations, and I try to school myself away from it. Often that involves applying the DBT I learned during Covid when I was recovering from depressions. That's the thing about therapy, it always comes in useful again. Anyway it was fun working on my book and I look forward to getting my momentum up on that. I'll feel better about working on it when I've got my Portuguese done up to date... which is part of why losing a day to a migraine is so frustrating!
