Fun With Covid Last week we traveled on a Flixbus into Lisbon to see a very interesting art exhibit. All these electric guitars, hooked to amps, were positioned face-up in a big room full of little birds. The birds were quite tame, so you could walk around and look at them closely. They would fly about and land on the strings of a guitar, making notes come out of its amplifier. Unfortunately somewhere on that bus ride my wife picked up Covid. She was bedridden starting Wednesday and is only out of bed today. We thought it was just a cold for the first day, and didn't learn it was Covid until Friday, by which time we doubtless spread it all over the place. Then I tested and found I have it, but I'm almost entirely asymptomatic. If I didn't know I had Covid I wouldn't even think I had a cold. Yay. On the other hand this has forced us to stay in and so I'm getting tons of stuff done - finished my Portuguese homework for my remote class, and I started working on my Gopherhole here. Thursday, before I knew I had Covid but while Joy was in bed sneezing and coughing, I went to see a dance performance at the auditorium on Luisa Todi avenue - a long greenspace running east-west through town. The dance was lovely - a long artsy-fartsy romp that started with five dancers standing in various location and making obscure artsy-fartsy comments, and ended with a slow motion rolling topless puppypile of dancers eventually reaching the front of the stage. But what was more fun than then dance was... going to the dance. Coming back from the dance. After living three years in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Arizona, I was able to STROLL to an AUDITORIUM to see MODERN DANCE. We didnt have ANYTHING within ten miles of us in San Manuel, and now I can just WALK to a lovely auditorium and watch modern dance... for free! I just hope I didn't given them Covid...
