The Fun Continues Well... my fifty-years-of-IT experience means that when I discovered that the 18TB drive that I imported to Portugal did NOT survive the trip I was not panicked. It did not ruin my day. Everything on that drive - which it would have been convenient to be able to use - is both up in the cloud, and also on a hard drive at my son's house in St. Paul. It's not lost. Nevertheless. The beeping and the tic-tic-tic of a borken drive is not fun. Anywho now I have to get my NAS solution sooner rather than later, as I must start the tedious process of downloading all that data from the cloud. Which is still more convenient than asking my son to climb up in his attic and retrieve my backup drive. I did order a refurbished Mac Mini to use as a Plex server, so once I get the NAS I can put them together and get that going. The Mac is coming from France, so who knows when it will reach here. And I still haven't ordered the NAS, or even decided on what I want to spend. Met with a very nice Portuguese teacher today, classes start in September. Continuing to study the Michel Thomas Portuguese lessons on my Raspberry Pi Plex server. Oh, and I broke down and signed up for Kobo Plus again ($12/year?! Why not?) because I simply could not find the book I wanted on any of my library cards. The fun continues!
