Back to the Furniture My daughter gave me a call today which was an unexpected delight. I'm glad I have one kid who reaches out regularly (glares in Dad at the boys). I was really touched to hear from her. Had another dream about Keith last night. In case you don't know, Keith is my best friend of over 40 years who has terminal brain cancer. So his condition is haunting me. He was diagnosed last year right before Thanksgiving, which was the same diagnosis at the same time of year that my dad received in 2004. Science being what it is, Keith is still with us eight months later, while my dad was gone by Christmas. I saw Keith a couple of times when I was in Minnesota, but brain cancer being what it is there wasn't a lot of "Keith" there. I dunno man, what do you do? It rips me up inside and yet I can't do a thing about it. And the thing is, the longer you live, the more of your friends and family you will see go. Sorry. Big day yesterday, all SORTS of furniture was delivered. Big comfy couches and recliners for the living room, the desk and desk chair at which I am now working, etc. We even got a dining room table, and we all sat around and played Scrabble for Freyja's birthday. Joy put down an 80-point "Z"! (ZONE with the Z on the double-letter, the E on the triple-word, and the Z spelled ZA going the other way, so 60 points on the triple-word, and 20 more on the ZA. She walked away with her second game, shortly after complaining that she and her sister can never hope to beat Gaia and me. Ha! As we settle into our space it becomes more possible for me to move ahead with various projects, which I look forward to doing!
