.TH ALEF 1 .SH NAME val, kal \- ALEF compilers .SH SYNOPSIS .B kal [ .I option ... ] [ .I name ... ] .br .B val [ .I option ... ] [ .I name ... ] .SH DESCRIPTION ALEF is a concurrent programming language with a syntax like C's. .I Kal and .I val compile the named ALEF source files into SPARC and MIPS object files. Source files have the extension .BR .l . The ALEF source is passed through .IR cpp (1) prior to compilation. Object files have the normal extension for each architecture: .B .k for SPARC and .B .v for MIPS. .PP The compiler options are: .TP .7i .BI -o " obj" Place output in file .I obj (ignored if there is more than one input file). Default is to take the last element of the input pathname, strip any trailing .BR .l , and append .B .v or .B .k . .TP .B -w Print warning messages for non fatal errors. .TP .B -N Do not run the code optimizer. .TP .B -c Generate code for .B check statements. .TP .B -S Produce assembly language as output. Default is to take the last element of the input pathname, strip any trailing .BR .l , and append .BR .s . .TP .B -D# Produce various forms of debugging. The # is a character in the range a-z or A-Z. .SH EXAMPLE To compile and run on a SPARC the ALEF program in the current directory: .IP .EX kal -w *.l kl *.k k.out .EE .SH FILES .TF /$objtype/lib/alef .TP .B /sys/include/alef directory for .B #include files. .TP .B /$objtype/lib/alef directory for ALEF libraries .SH "SEE ALSO" .IR 2a (1), .IR 2l (1), .IR rl (1), .IR mk (1), .IR nm (1), .IR db (1) .br Phil Winterbottom, "ALEF Reference Manual"
