       I was genuinely sad to hear that the CBS Reality TV channel has
       closed down. It feels like the end of a small but meaningful
       era of comfort television.
       
       CBS Reality was never flashy or cutting-edge, but that was part
       of its charm. It was dependable. You could turn it on at almost
       any time of day and know exactly what kind of show you were
       going to get: familiar, simple, and oddly reassuring.
       
       The comfort of familiar formats
       ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
       In a world where television keeps trying to reinvent itself,
       CBS Reality stayed true to classic reality and courtroom
       programming. There were no gimmicks, no forced drama arcs,
       just shows that let people be people.
       
       That consistency mattered more than it probably gets credit for.
       
       Judge Judy will be deeply missed

       Above all, I will miss Judge Judy.
       
       Few shows managed to be so entertaining while being so
       straightforward. The sharp one-liners, the no-nonsense rulings,
       and the unmistakable sense that nobody was going to waste the
       court's time made it endlessly watchable. It was the perfect
       show to have on in the background, or to sit down and actually
       pay attention to.
       
       Judge Judy wasn't just a TV show - it was a routine, a habit,
       and for many, a daily dose of blunt common sense.

       An understated loss
       ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
       The closure of CBS Reality probably won't make headlines, but it
       leaves a gap nonetheless. It takes away a channel that asked very
       little of its viewers and gave back quiet entertainment in return.
       
       I'll miss stumbling across an episode mid-argument. I'll miss
       the familiar schedule. And I'll miss knowing that Judge Judy was
       always there, ready to tell someone exactly how wrong they were.
       
       Goodbye, CBS Reality - and thank you for the hours of comfort
