20251108-complexity_squared.txt It's been a while. I've beeb insanely busy at work. Thanks for the most massive PC extinction event ever, MS. The end of Win10 has required me and my team to upgrade or trash dozens of PCs. Most if them are "Dude, you're gettin' a" 7050s. A few of them run Win11 just fine. Then D got a dick up their ass and put a soft lock and stopped people from upgrading. Why? Provably money. Win11 on Ntune has been a pain in the ass. Can't enroll Home editions, which is still a shitty distinction made to lock users out of certain features. Anyway, it nuked our network trying to update them all over the building. The only good things is temp admin, but that's not an Ntune thing itself. Setting up Buntu is still easy as the overlords don't deem it necessary to use Ntune with it. Got my ident stolen, so I'm deaing with that, too. Really annoying. He's lucky I don't know exactly where he lives. Needless compexity is major issue with our management method. While it ensures I will remain employed there due to demand, I stil like low-tech solutions like an HDMI switch instead of a DMPS. We have a new room setup that uses a directional mic as a roof tile. It's so dumb. And we have multiple mics in some rooms and at least 3 input sources in each presentation room. One is the room PC. IMO it should be the only one. We have styluses that "walk off" that I said were a bad idea and would just let scumbags steal them. I was right. I've said we needed kiosk-level protection for these common PCs and was basically brushed off. The people in charge want fancy curved 40-inch monitors instead of effectively protecting the PCs and peripherals from thieves. I still like my job, but it has been really stressful and demanding the past few months. Also my FB team sucks. I hope you are doing better. Also I typed this on my Pinephone with PMOS + Sway.
