------------------------------------------------------------------- +title: Please think of the children!!! +date: Wed, 10 Sep 2025 02:15:23 +0200 +author: -fab- ------------------------------------------------------------------- <== tldr; ==> This article concerns the intentions of governments to monitor smartphones, the cloud, and all communications with artificial intelligence. Ostensibly to combat the possession and distribution of CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material). It's mainly a rant about mass surveillance. <== Mass Surveillance with AI ==> I am convinced that mass surveillance of smartphones, the cloud, all communication and the general public will become a reality in the future. And this will happen with the help of ubiquitous "artificial intelligence" so that comprehensive surveillance is possible without needing too much personnel. All of this is politically motivated by the desire to gain comprehensive control over the population, for example, to take action against political activism, actions that challenge the government, or are subversive in any other way. Whistleblowers and journalists are automatically targeted as well. Anyone who could potentially bring compromising information against a government or a large corporation to the public will be automatically monitored and treated accordingly. I assume that encryption for computers, communication, or in the cloud will either legally require backdoors or be compromised through governmental spyware in operating systems like Android or IOS, allowing data to be accessed before encryption. All of this, despite the dangers by hackers, foreign regimes, and other actors, will in my opinion inevitably come to pass. And this will be the end of privacy. <== Won't somebody think of the children? ==> Since the so-called "Crypto Wars" (which always come up again and again) governments and parliaments have argued with the protection of our children from child abuse as knockout argument, which they claim can only be prevented if they have access to the encrypted data. That's complete nonsense. The fact is, the police and other executive bodies *DO* have the means to combat child abuse and other crimes using conventional methods. But they apparently aren't using them. As far as child abuse is concerned, there are constantly videos on YouTube showing private individuals and journalists identifying perpetrators and holding them accountable. Why can't the police do that? There's probably a deeper intention at play here. In any case, widespread surveillance or weakening encryption is not necessary for general crime prosecution and prevention. But the European Nations *will* become surveillance states, because "it's possible" with AI. <== The Consequences ==> As most people know, online privacy is already dead (at least for those who aren't familiar with technology). But mass surveillance has even more far-reaching consequences. Mass surveillance arouses desires within the governments and can mean the end of civil rights and democracy. Dissidents disappear into prisons and journalists only write propaganda. Activism becomes very dangerous to impossible. Self-censorship, as is already practiced on the internet today, extends to friends and neighbors, and social isolation increases. The consequences of comprehensive surveillance will bring about political, economic, social, and psychological changes, all of which are detrimental to the population. And if the AfD comes to power in Germany, it already has a complete tyranny it can take over. But now enough of this blackpilled ranting. All in all - Have fun as long as you can! -fab-
