	SNOW CAVE VERSUS TENTS

Subject: Snow cave versus tents

I've found that the snow cave is a heck of a lot better than any kind
of tent you can find. I may not be a "true" survivalist like some of you
Smoky Adamses, but I know my snow caves.

1. A snow cave walls can be as thick as you like, the thicker the more
insulation. Snow is one of the best insulators you can find, because
of it's air pockets. Tents are only a few mm thick, offering very
little protection from the cold.

2. Quiet! The thinnest snow walls will stop almost all outside sounds,
creating a peaceful environment for sleeping. Useful for sites near
falling water.

3. Free. They take a little more time, but snow caves are completely free.
(Don't forget to destroy it when you leave though...it is against the law
to leave a man-made shelter in the wild.)

(Some bear might use it and not pay the rent which is totally illegal)

There's more....can anyone name some? Brad.

"Note from Richard: this was found on the Net in January" Being good stuff
I took it upon myself as usual to pirate the stuff but also the source.
Any snow job you can refer to Brad and tell him about it" 5/1/96
