I'd like to get a somewhat more sophisticated main

liquid carrying method than plastic gatorade jugs.

I like steel canteens for asthetics but oh the weight.

Plastic canteens usually leak at the cap.

The E. german insulated ones are more bulk than they are worth

YOU CAN NEVER OWN TOO MUCH WATER.

I use 1 qt. Nalgene bottles while hiking, and for everyday use.

They're practically indestructable, don't leak (sometimes the loop-top

bottles will have a small hole in the cap, check first to make sure),

and lightweight.

There are carriers that attach directly to the hip belt of your pack,

and are made especially for the 1 qt. Nalgenes. Also, buy the

polycarbonate bottles.

They're more expensive, but they don't leave a funny taste in your water.
