Subject: BARF (Bones and Raw Food)

I have been wondering how to maintain a source of calcium, and trace minerals to
keep human bodies functioning in a primitive environment.
The practice of grinding bones and raw meat together to make BARF and feed it to
dogs and cats is a growing health food practice. It takes a tough grinder but
when cooking fuel is scarce after a PS why not feed this type of food to humans.
Small animals (chickens, rabbits, squirrels, rats etc) can be ground up bones
and all. Apparently it has been found eating it raw does a better job of
supplying calcium and trace minerals. When cooked the bones will splinter
during grinding and so this technique doesn't work. I suppose one could grind
it then cook it if one was not sure of the bacterial count otherwise eat it raw
while still fresh.
