I can't believe I'd only found out about solderpunk (and couple
others interesting) phlogs today! it was great fun to read about
the posts that led to the creation of gemini et al.

it looks like SDF and circumlunar.space were prominent providers
for people to have a home for their phlogs.

I'm using Lagrange as my gopher (and gemini, spartan) browser. it
handles ANSI codes just fine, I can customize the reading
experience well - fonts, line spacing, margins, colors. I can use
it on multiple devices - perfect for my needs so far.

when I get the time in the future.

I'm yet to read solderpunk's series "Protocol pondering
intensifies" series in more detail and the gemini project
gemlogs, to give a better analysis of my thoughts.

The above mentioned phlog post talks about separation of content
and navigation as a key part of what separates gopher from the
culture of the web. this observation aligned with that analyzed
by tomasino in this post:

that is, with regards to some people (possibly coming from web,
HTML culture) misusing gophermaps as the primary format for their
content in the attempt to include easily click-able links in
their content.

I believe solderpunk briefly covered whether this separation is
actually worth it, or whether using gophermaps for content is
generally bad in their opinion, so I'll read more about it soon,
including how better link accessibility made it to the gemtext
spec.

note to self: write a post about re-evaluating gemini's worth
(IMO) in 2024. read more about winter's recent gemini post that
references someone's post about gemini being an "Eternal August"
and all that is a bit sad because gemini users appear to be
chasing an "old" web. (this is more towards the people and
culture though, but in my post I'll probably talk more about the
technical aspects like content and readability -- which I've been
experiencing more and more lately).
