CURSOR.CO is a machine language program that allows you to view upto 80 colums of text in window of 60 columns by 10 lines on your Model 100. This means 600 characters can be displayed at one time, almost as much as the Tandy 200. Compare this with the normal 40 characters by 8 lines which can only display 320 characters. CURSOR.CO is a second generation of VIEW.CO. Cursor allows you to look at your text as it will be printed and allows you to edit the file. It is 2839 Bytes and can be relocated. The display is readable and easy to use. It has full uppercase and lowercase characters with descenders. Characters below CHR$ (32) and above CHR$(125) are shown as CHR$(255). Cursor will word wrap on characters of Dash [-] and below. It was written to supplement pixel-mapping, helping to find formatting errors and to correct them. I do not advocate writing a book with Cursor but you can save a lot of paper by using it to look at a file before printing. Cursor supports insert and overtype and you can delete characters. At any time you can enter the Model 100's text editor and when done return directly to Cursor. Cut and Paste is not supported, as the Tcomp INKEY$ instruction has a problem with Paste. The basic driver is used to set HIMEM and word wrap. As most people use a favorite word wrap setting, it can be permanently embedded in Cursor and the driver can be completly omited. To permanently embedded your favorite word wrap setting into Cursor you can use the following program (word wrap is currently set at 60): 10 T=60127 20 CLEAR128,T:LOADM"Cursor":INPUT" Width ";W:IFW>80THENRUN 30 POKEHIMEM+2832,W:SAVEM "Cursor",HIMEM,HIMEM+2832,HIMEM Now you'll only need the driver when you want to use a different setting. When you run Cursor you'll see the files in memory and then be asked for a File. Enter a valid file name (without extension) and press enter. If you enter a bad file or no file name Cursor will return you to the Main Menu. The screen will clear and display the first screen of text. At the top left corner there will be a small flashing cursor (hence the name.). Cursor starts up in the insert mode. [CTRL-V] Toggles between insert and overwrite modes. The cursor is a little larger when in overwrite. Whenever a character is input, the whole screen is rewritten. However the you do not have to wait on the screen. Type as fast as you like. Cursor will keep up. (If Cursor was a 60*8 screen, the whole screen would not need to be rewritten, what do you think?) Backspace and delete work normally. The arrow key work almost normally. If you press [Up Arrow] while the cursor is on the top line, the cursor will move to the top of the file. If you press [Down Arrow] while the cursor is on the bottom line the cursor will move to the "next page". [SHIFT UP] Moves to top of the page. [SHIFT DOWN] Moves to the last character on the page. [SHIFT RIGHT] Moves to the character after the next space to the right. [SHIFT LEFT] Moves to the character before the next space to the left. [CTRL UP] Moves to the top of the file. [CTRL DOWN] Moves to the next page. [CTRL LEFT] Moves to the start of line. [CTRL RIGHT] Moves to the end of line. [F8] and [ESC] Return to the Main Menu. [F4] Takes you into the text file you working on. When you exit text you will be returned to Cursor. Note that the last line of the current screen is the first line of the next screen. Convert CURSOR.RLC to CURSOR.CO with RLCLDR.BA in the Utilities Data Library. Download CURSOR.RLC as CURSOR.DO (6277 bytes). Be sure to BACKUP ALL FILES IN RAM! Edit the file to remove the garbage in the beginning and end of the file. Run RLCLDR.BA, press #1 and type 'CURSOR'. Enter a start of 60127 ( See the documentation for RLCLDR if you want to change the address, if you do be sure to change the value of 'T' in line 10 of basic loaders.) Return to this documentation file and using Copy and Paste, make a copy of the small basic program in this documentation file. Go into basic and press PASTE. Save the file as CURSOR.BA. I was surprised with the response of VIEW. And with request for the source code. Most of this program was compiled with TCOMP.BA however unlike VIEW the basic source code will not run on its own, due to the number of M/L support routines.
