If you are looking for patterns in the text received from lynx, so that you
can tell when lynx is getting a URL, when lynx has failed, when lynx is done
reddrawing the display; that is tricky because what text lynx sends depends
on what is currently displayed. When lynx displays a message, it often skips
characters if the characters are already displayed.

However, if you always start lynx from the same prompt or menu, and if you
always start lynx with the same starting page, then lynx should always
send the same characters when it starts.

When you tell lynx to go to a URL, you get something like:
Getting http://www.sover.net/^MLookup www.sover.nt^MMaking HTTP connectio o www.sover.net.^MSending HTP request.^MHTTP requestsnt; waiting for response.^MRead389 bye of data.^MHTTP/1.1302 Found^MUsing http://crp.sover.net/^MGetting http://corp.sover.net/^MLookup corp.sover.nt^MMaking HTTP connection to corp.sover.net.
Sending HTP request.^MHTTP requestsnt; waiting for response.^MRead1023 bytes ofdta.^MHTTP/.1 200 OK^MRead 873 of7352 bytes of data.^M5969^M6652^MDatatransfer comple

except ^M is not two characters, ^ and M, but one character, control-m,
carriage return.

When you start lynx, you get the same thing as when you tell lynx to go to a
URL.

When lynx is done drawing the display, you get something like:
-more- http://r.sover.net/text/
-more- htp:/corp.sover.net/text/

-- pess space for more, use arrow keys to move, '?' for help, 'q' to quit.
