  "DOS-FIX.EXE"

FCL can be used as a security tool for your computer. "DOS-FIX" will
allow the batch files ("ALL-LIST.BAT", "WIN-LIST.BAT", etc.) to create a
complete list (file/s) of all files and folders/directories including
those that are hidden. Please read "DOS-FIX.TXT".

BATCH FILES CREATES THE LIST (REFERENCE FILE):

"ALL-LIST.BAT" creates a list of everything in the drive.
"WIN-LIST.BAT" creates a list of the entire "WINDOWS" tree.
"PGM-LIST.BAT" creates a list of the entire "Program Files" tree.
"DOC-LIST.BAT" creates a list of the entire "My Documents" tree.

  VERY IMPORTANT NOTE (WINDOWS SYSTEMS):

Always create a list (reference file/s) in Dos mode. Otherwise, you
will not get a "true" report.

  DOS MODE (WINDOWS 95/98/ME/2000/XP/etc. SYSTEMS):

  1. During bootup, when (if) you see the message, "Starting Windows 95/98",
press the F8 key. Next, select "Command prompt only".

  2. At the "shutdown" window, restart your computer in "Dos". Note: Type
"exit" to return to Windows, but there will be a delay.

  3. Use a Dos (Dos 7.1) boot disk (Windows XP)

  IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you install a new application/s after you created a list/s, please create
a new list/s. The current list/s will be renamed with a .BAK extension when
you create a new list.

It is normal for certain files to change. Also, certain locations such as
the "Temporary Internet Files", "Recent", "History", "Cookies", etc. will
acquire new files. Please get familiar with what files change and what
locations acquire new files by launching FCL from time to time. As a result,
you may be alerted to a possible "spy" (example, "keylogger"), "trojan",
"hijack", etc., if a new file/s is added to a location/s that normally does
not get new files (unless you install a new application, perform an "update",
or create a new file/s).

  "NEW" FOLDER/DIRECTORY WITH "NEW" FILES:

If a "new" folder is created or an existing folder is renamed (becomes
"new"), that folder's name is not in the list (reference file). All files
within that folder will not be found by FCL. Simply make an updated list
(reference file).

  CHANGED FILES NOTE:

If a file/s is no longer at a location, but it is in the list, it can not be
checked for changes. Also, this applies to new files added after the list
was created, because they are not in the list.

  IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you move a file/s from one location to another in your hard disk drive
after you created a list (reference file), those relocated files will be
reported as "new" or "missing", depending on the mode you use in FCL. The
"new" or "missing" file/s is based on their location (no longer at one
location ("missing"), but present at another ("new")).
